Biography

hat I trained in Australia for four years, completing a college course in millinery with distinction. After finishing the course I gained invaluable experience working with Neil Grigg - one of Australia's top fashion milliners.

Following a conversation regarding theatrical millinery Neil kindly introduced me to Jean Carroll, who was one of the most experienced milliners in Australia. Jean has created all types of headwear for the past 70 years, having started her apprenticeship at the age of fourteen. Jean was recently awarded Order Of Australia Medal for her contribution to the Arts and Education and a bursary has been honoured in her name for would-be milliners. I have been very lucky to have worked with such creative people who had such high standards of workmanship and I believe this is reflected in my work.

When I am making a piece of headwear for a client, I call on all my experience to create the right look for them. I have also previously worked as a Make-up Artist and Stylist, and I think I use these skills too when I’m creating a hat. I like to take everything into consideration, all the elements such as shoes, make up and accessories to really put the ‘WOW’ factor into the occasion!

I look forward to hearing from you – either for a consultation or for one of my workshops.

All the best!
